About Us

Out There started in 2015 as a Forest School holiday club for children aged 8-11 year olds. It was, and still is, a joint venture between friends who share a passion for the natural environment, a belief in getting children outdoors and a vision of delivering the highest standards of quality childcare in an outdoor setting.

For our older children, Forest School principles are incorporated into everyday after-school and holiday childcare. As well as the holiday club, we now run an after school club during term time and deliver a variety of other programmes, including school trips to Nightingale Valley Woods and Forest School Birthday Parties.

At the newly opened Out There Preschool, we bring together different educational principles from the Montessori method to weekly Forest School sessions to create a unique early years experience. Wrap around care can also be provided.

Between them, the Out There Directors have over 25 years experience of working with children in a variety of settings and are registered with OFSTED on the childcare register. Out There staff are all CRB/DBS checked and their experience ranges from working as early years professionals in Bristol Children's Centres, working as a senior play leader in an after-school club and teaching in a Special Needs school. Director, Manager and Forest School Leader

I'm Janet Taylor and I have been working with children and young people for over 15 years.  I am qualified as an art teacher and have run art workshops for Bristol City Council. I have also worked in the past as a professional children’s entertainer and am now training to be a Level 3 Forest School leader.  I have completed an outdoor First Aid certificate and paediatric emergency first aid certificate.

I have always loved the outdoors and nature and spent my childhood roaming woodlands, fields and countryside. I am very excited to be part of this new venture and to be able to share my enthusiasm and joy of outdoor play with city-based children. Our aim is to create a fun and adventurous environment for them to explore and learn in.

Jenny has many years experience teaching and looking after children in the Bristol area.
